Data We Collect

ToolVitals is primarily a static directory. We do not require accounts or collect personal information to browse the site. We may collect:

• Server access logs (IP addresses, user agents) via our hosting provider
• Email addresses if you voluntarily subscribe to alerts (future feature)

Watchlists, Stacks & Wishlists

Your local watchlist is stored only in your browser. Shared stack and wishlist pages encode the list directly after the # in the URL. That fragment is not sent to ToolVitals when the page loads, and ToolVitals does not keep a database of these lists.

Change monitoring stores a private baseline for recently visited stacks and wishlists in your browser's local storage. It has no programmed expiry and normally survives browser restarts until you clear ToolVitals site data. A session-only copy keeps the current change report visible through page refreshes. ToolVitals does not receive or synchronize this history.

Anyone who has a shared link can read the list encoded in it. Do not put private, confidential, or secret information in a list name or tool entry.

Missing-tool Suggestions

If you choose to submit tools that are not yet in the directory, ToolVitals receives the tool name and public homepage or GitHub URL. Cloudflare Turnstile verifies the submission and a short-lived Cloudflare Queue delivers it to the ToolVitals discovery pipeline. The pipeline stores the public tool suggestion and an aggregate repeat-submission count so that frequently requested tools can be prioritized.

The request IP may be processed transiently by Cloudflare for abuse prevention and rate limiting. ToolVitals does not add the IP address to the stored discovery candidate.

Cookies & Analytics

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers. Cloudflare Turnstile is loaded only when missing-tool intake is enabled and may use browser storage or other signals for abuse prevention.

Affiliate Links

Some outbound links are affiliate links. Clicking them may set cookies on the destination site per their privacy policy. We disclose affiliate links with rel="sponsored".

Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal data. Cloudflare processes hosting, security, Turnstile, and queue-delivery data as our infrastructure provider.
